The Lychakivsky District Court in Lviv found a man guilty of animal cruelty. According to a verdict published in October in the Unified Judicial Register, he threw his dog, a miniature schnauzer named Sati, off his balcony.

The court determined that the incident occurred on approximately July 18 at around 8:00. On the shared balcony of building number 32 on Shota Rustaveli Street, a man grabbed the animal by its hind legs and threw it down. The fall caused injury to the animal's left hind leg and numerous bruises throughout its body.

The defendant fully admitted guilt. Explaining his actions, he stated that the dog was barking and attacking his girlfriend. According to the man, this led to an argument, during which he threw the animal.

The punishment was three years in prison with the confiscation of the dog. However, the court also suspended the man's sentence and imposed a two-year probationary period.

The pre-trial detention order was lifted, and the convicted individual was released in the courtroom. An appeal of the verdict is possible within 30 days.
