In Lviv, a military official from the Territorial Defense Forces (TTC) was detained on suspicion of fatally beating a mobilized soldier.
The SBU has initiated a criminal investigation and suspects a soldier from the Territorial Defense Forces of Lviv of causing a fatal assault on a mobilized man. The victim died in the hospital from the injuries sustained. The suspect faces a potential prison sentence of up to 10 years. He was previously arrested for accepting a bribe.
The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has announced that it suspects a military serviceman from one of the units of the Lviv Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (Recruitment and Support Center) of fatally beating a mobilized man.
According to the investigation, a soldier from the territorial defense forces, along with other employees, brutally beat a mobilized man, inflicting blows to the torso and chest with fists and feet while he was lying on the floor with his hands behind his back. The suspect himself allegedly inflicted at least two blows with his foot on the victim.
After being forcibly taken by military personnel, the man was transported to a military facility in Lviv. From there, he was later taken to a hospital by ambulance. At the hospital, doctors discovered that the man had multiple rib fractures, severe lung damage, and other life-threatening injuries. Despite the doctors' efforts, he could not be saved.
The serviceman has been informed of suspicion of intentionally causing severe bodily harm, resulting in the death of the victim, committed by a group of individuals (Article 2, Paragraph 121 of the Criminal Code). The court has placed the suspect in custody without the possibility of posting bail. Investigators are identifying all members of the recruitment center involved in the assault and are investigating the circumstances of the man's death. Previously, in August 2026, this same military serviceman from the recruitment center was arrested for bribery. At that time, the Шевchenkovsky District Court in Lviv found him guilty of receiving a bribe in collusion with others and sentenced him to a punishment that did not involve imprisonment.
