The man entered from Poland via the "green corridor," transporting goods worth approximately 67 thousand hryvnias. He admitted to violating customs regulations but requested the return of the goods.
The Lviv Regional Court fined a man who transported undeclared goods through the "Shehyni - Medyka" border crossing. According to a decision dated October 20, all seized items are subject to confiscation.
According to the case materials, the driver of the Mercedes-Benz 312 arrived from Poland August 20 around 05:44. He chose the "green lane," which is designated for the movement of goods without mandatory written declaration.
Customs officials suspected that the cargo required declaration. The vehicle was initially checked with an X-ray scanner, and then thoroughly inspected. Inside the vehicle, without any signs of concealment, they found:
10 kg of ground Chicco D'Oro Tradition coffee worth 8 thousand UAH;
360 packs of Hubba Bubba chewing gum — 30,6 thousand UAH;
40 packages of Kinder Tronky candies — 4,4 thousand UAH;
38 packages of Kinder Schoko Bons candies — 4,56 thousand UAH;
324 Rio Mare herring banks — 19,44 thousand UAH.
The total weight of the goods was 73,82 kg, and their estimated value was determined to be 67 thousand Ukrainian hryvnias. The driver told the customs officials that everything belonged to him.
In court, the man admitted guilt but requested the return of the confiscated items. The court considered the lack of concealment but concluded that the quantity and value of the goods did not indicate that they were exclusively for personal use.
The order states that food products for personal use can be imported up to a total of 200 euros per person, while adhering to the established restrictions.
The court imposed a fine of 5100 hryvnias and the confiscation of all seized goods worth 67 thousand hryvnias for failing to declare. In addition, the man must pay a court fee of 665,60 UAH and 626,08 UAH for storing the goods in a customs warehouse. An appeal of the decision is possible within ten days.
