In the village of Antoniwka, in the Zhuraven community in the Lviv region, some residents have opposed renaming one of the streets in honor of Bohdan Berchak, a defender of Ukraine, who was 23 years old. This was reported by his mother, Lilia Berchak, on Facebook.

The Zhuravnenka village council stated that they do not have a developed mechanism for dealing with such cases, as no one has yet applied to rename streets. However, the local authorities did not refuse the renaming and promised to create a special commission that will make a decision in accordance with the law.

According to the law "On the Condemnation and Prohibition of the Propaganda of the Russian Imperial Policy in Ukraine and Decolonization of Toponymy," the renaming of geographical objects is carried out with consideration for the opinion of the population residing in the area where these objects are located, through consultations with the public regarding the proposed changes. Any individual or initiative group can submit a petition to the local self-government body, which is then put to public discussion. Residents can vote on the renaming through a collection of signatures (offline or online). The final decision is made at a session, by the votes of the majority of local deputies.
