The Lviv Paralympic football club "Pokrova AMP" met with the Pope in the Vatican on October 28. The meeting took place during a general audience in St. Peter's Square.

During the audience, the club's players presented the Pope with a t-shirt featuring the "Patron Saints of AMP" emblem. The provincial superior of the Salesian Order, Father Mykhailo Chaban of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, told the Pope about the history of the Lviv-based team and its mission.

According to Father Mykhailo, the club helps Ukrainian veterans who have suffered serious injuries and amputations during the war, by providing them with opportunities to recover through sports. Captain of the team, a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, Valentin Osowski, noted that this event provides confidence and motivates people to move forward.

The Lviv team arrived in Vatican City after participating in the EAFF 2026 football championship, which took place from October 23 to 25 in the Italian city of Faenza. "Pokrova AMP" became the first Ukrainian club in the history of this European tournament and finished in fifth place.
