Lviv: Three officials will be tried for purchasing salt for roads — damages amount to almost 12 million UAH

Three officials from the Lviv city administration will be prosecuted for negligence during the procurement of technical salt for roads. The city paid for more than 6 tons, but actually received only more than 4 tons. The losses to the Lviv budget amounted to almost 12 million hryvnias, which the supplier fully compensated, according to the regional prosecutor's office.

Three officials from municipal administrations in Lviv will face trial in a case of negligence during the procurement of technical salt for road maintenance. This was announced by the Lviv regional prosecutor's office.

According to the investigation, at the end of last year, three district administrations in Lviv signed contracts with a supplier company. Officials responsible for urban planning signed expense vouchers for the complete receipt of goods, without verifying their availability.

On paper, the city purchased over 6 thousand tons of salt, but in reality, more than 4 thousand tons did not reach the city's warehouses. According to the investigation, the company director was falsifying documents and arranging for the responsible storage of the salt – although the salt was supposedly being stored on his premises, it was, in fact, not there. As a result, the supplier was receiving funds from the city budget without justification.

The budget losses in Lviv were estimated at almost 12 million UAH; the prosecutor's office states that the supplier has fully compensated for them.

The actions of the officials have been classified under Article 2 and Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (negligence leading to severe consequences). The materials related to the head of the supplier company have been separated into a separate case under Article 5, Article 191, Article 1, and Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft and abuse of office).
